Cannes and Lerins Islands
The very famous city of Cannes is known all over the world for its 70-year-old Spring Film Festival. During one week, the city lives to the rhythm of cinema, film screenings and numerous evenings bringing together artists, celebrities and people from all over the world. On the “Stards Trail”, more than 300 artists have left the imprint of their hand engraved in the ground.
On the famous Croisette, you will be dazzled by the luxury hotels, the luxury shops, the magnificent Art Deco buildings on one side and the sandy beaches on the sea side.
The historical district of Le Suquet awaits you next to the old port with its former buildings, its steep streets crossed by stairs. From the top of the old town, you will have a breathtaking view of the Islands and the Croisette.
Facing this lively city, you will find peace and nature within 15 minutes by boat on the Lérins Islands. Opposite to Cannes, two preserved islands are ideal for resting, walking and meditation.
The island of Sainte Marguerite has kept its wild character. It is covered with many paths in the shade of pines and eucalyptus trees ; you can also have a dip in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a nature reserve, a refuge for many birds during migration periods. At Fort Royal, you rediscover the legend of the Iron Mask.
Its little neighbor, the Island of Saint-Honorat, is privately owned by Cistercian monks. It was founded by Saint Honorat in the 5th century. You can visit the fortified monastery, the Trinity Chapel (the island has 7 chapels) as well as a ball oven from the time of Napoleon.
