Santon fair in Mouans Sartoux
In the pure Provençal tradition, the santon fair offers visitors to enlarge their nativity scene with new characters or accessories composed of Provençal decors, trees and vegetation, a well, a wash house, a house, a village.
More than twenty santonniers present their collections of hundreds of earthenware figurines, of various sizes, dressed in fabrics, painted or varnished.
An exhibition to visit with family for the greatest joy of the children who dive a little in advance in the preparation of Christmas.
The art of the santonnier consists in regularly creating original models by sculpting a character or an accessory in the clay, then to make a mold in plaster which will reproduce the initial model in many copies. Molded, demolded, dried and trimmed, the santon is then baked at high temperature before being painted manually with precision brushes: some models of Christmas cribs have characters of 2 centimeters!
Open every day from 2 pm to 6 pm from 8th november to 24th december 2019 at the La Strada media library in Mouans-Sartoux.
